This is a one-day family book making workshop, being held on Saturday 29th November 2025 at The Old Cart Shed, Low Farm Park, Spring Lane, Folkingham, Sleaford, Lincolnshire, NG34 oSJ

Join Caroline at Low Farm Park in Folkingham for a specially designed one-day family book craft workshop (for one adult to attend per child) to take part in a hands-on traditional bookbinding experience. Where you will learn how to hand-craft a family memories book together, to be able to hold, feel and share your special family memories.

Workshop Student Places:

To provide the expert level of tuition, guidance and working space needed for traditional book making techniques, I offer only 6 student pairs (one adult and one child) on this workshop.

• The workshop is designed for one adult to attend per child (aged 8 years upwards) (for insurance purposes and for safety, younger children can’t attend or take part in the workshop).
• Please note sewing needles are part of the kits being used, and will be essential for taking part in the courses.
• Adults booking the workshop places must read and agree to The Book Professional Workshops Terms and Conditions at the time of booking. This will be confirmed with you at checkout.

Workshop Session Times:

This workshop starts at 9:30am and finishes at 4:00pm with a lunch included in the price.

Workshop Access:

• Workshop classes take place in The Old Cart Shed at Low Farm Park, and will be held on the 1st floor which is accessed by an internal staircase, the building is access via 2 steps from outside across a gravelled courtyard space, Unfortunately, due to the historic nature of the building there is no level access to the 1st floor from the courtyard area to the workshop space.
• Access to the teaching space is available from 9:30am when The Old Cart Shed opens for our workshop.

You Will Learn How To:

• Select and use the materials needed for making 1x A4 hard-back album
• Hand sew sections of pages together to create a book block, apply end bands, glue-up and line a book block spine
• Measure, prepare and cut with scissors book cloth material for the spine and corners of the book
• Cover the spine and boards corners in book cloth to create a half-bound book style
• Cover boards with decorative marbled paper
• Glue-in a case binding

Family Book Craft Workshop Courses Includes:

• A one-day workshop (9:30am to 4:00pm with a one-hour lunch), with expert tuition from me as a professionally trained traditional bookbinder (see the ‘Meet The Book Professional’ page).
• A high quality bookbinders kit containing carefully selected bookbinding tools and materials is made available for you to use on the day to make your family memories book. The kit is supplied by Learn Bookbinding.
• A sharing platter lunch (sandwiches, crips, cakes) for one adult and one child with refreshments, provided by Low Park Farm for the workshop (dietary needs can be catered for, please let me know when you book).
• Tea, coffee and water refreshments available throughout the workshop.

What Book To Bring:

• For this workshop you only need to bring yourself, as everything else is provided for you.
